ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Students at Live Oak Elementary School celebrated Arbor Day by planting a 200 gallon Live Oak Tree outside of the school. Friday morning, fifth grade students shoveled the dirt to complete the planting process.

They are the first school to participate in this ceremonial event. "You have somebody helping you, you just don't have to do things by yourself and as we rotated you could see our friends struggling and someone would go over and help them, that's what we all need in life," said Amir Roundtree a fifth grade student.

Saturday at 9:30 in the morning volunteers are needed to help plant 34 trees behind the Civic Center. If you want to help, wear work clothes, gloves and bring shovels.
