THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

Narcotics agents are awaiting test results from an active meth lab as a suspected meth cooker sits in jail.

Thomas County agents say 31-year old James Butler was making meth in a shed behind this home on McMillan Road.

A clean up crew from Adel responded to remove the meth lab.

Samples from the meth lab were collected and sent to a state crime lab.

"It's very dangerous for the person cooking it to begin with. It's also dangerous for us to make it safe. We have to put on a fire suit just to make it safe a draw samples. The you got to be careful after that not to let certain components do certain things," said Narcotics Commander Kevin Lee.

Butler is charged with manufacturing meth.

Other charges are pending the outcome of the lab results.
