Whitehouse police officer arrested for DWI

WHITEHOUSE, TX (KLTV) -

Whitehouse police officer Darrell Robertson was arrested for DWI in the early hours of the morning on Thursday after being stopped by a Department of Public Safety trooper for a traffic infraction.

According to DPS Trooper Jean Dark, Robertson was in his personal vehicle. Once the trooper approached the vehicle, he found probable cause to arrest Robertson for DWI.

The stop occurred on FM 756 south of Loop 49.

Robertson turned in his resignation to Whitehouse police chief Craig Shelton on Thursday. He had been with the department since last March. 

According to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, Robertson has 16 years of law enforcement experience with the Alba Police Department, Wood County Sheriff's Office and Smith County Sheriff's Office.
