MOUNT PLEASANT, TX (KLTV) -

A former East Texas police officer pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14-years-old on Friday.

According to Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd, Eric Jason Campbell, 41, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. He will also be required to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.

Campbell resigned from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department during the investigation of the allegations against him.
