VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
Information from MOODY AIR FORCE BASE-
Moody is scheduled to host the Honorary Commander Change of Command Ceremony this afternoon.
The Honorary Commander Program, which pairs community leaders with commanders at Moody, seeks to familiarize members of the community with wing operations through official and social functions.
It also allows commanders an opportunity to learn more about their respective honorary commander's role in the local community. The program is designed to help strengthen the relationship between Moody and its surrounding communities.
This year, 14 new honorary commanders will be recognized as they begin their two-year term, while 15 honorary commanders will continue in the program for a second year.
The Honorary Commander Change of Command includes an "immersion day." During the immersion day, honorary commanders had the opportunity to meet with Moody Airmen and gain a first-hand perspective of the missions of the units with which they are paired.
