The Albany Humane Society is getting a makeover thanks to some help from a national humanitarian group and national dog food company.
Valdosta State University students hosted a Valentine's Day celebration to raise awareness about violence against women.
Free food, music, prizes, and dancing brought people to VSU's front lawn.
The Women's and Gender Studies Department used Valentine's Day as a day to stop violence against women.
The event is a call to action based on the statistic that one in three women in the world will be beaten or raped during her lifetime.
"It's a day of love, it's a campaign to raise awareness to love women. One in three women will be raped or beaten and so all women should be loved," said Kat Norsworthy, event organizer.
The Haven battered women's shelter was there to give women information about getting out of abusive relationships.
