ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Police continue the hunt for a gunman who stuck up a man delivering Meals on Wheels to the elderly and disabled.

People who receive those meals say they can't believe their friend was robbed at gunpoint, and hope it doesn't hurt the Meals on Wheels program.

Terry Taylor wouldn't go on camera with us, but said even after being robbed at gunpoint, he never even thought about not finishing up all his deliveries.

Taylor, who works for the Middle Flint Council On Aging, was delivering meals at the Golden Homes on West Tift Avenue about 9:00AM, when a man pointed a gun at him and demanded money.

Taylor gave him all the money he had, three dollars, and after he escaped, delivered Shelia Williams' food box.

"When he got here, he was very upset. He had told me he had just been robbed on the street," Williams said.

Upset, but Taylor kept on helping folks. "The gentleman who was delivering the meals went right on about his business," said Council on Aging Executive Director Kay Hind.

"He kept on delivering. I told him he needs to call the police and stuff like that. And he said he was OK long as he made it back to his truck," Williams said.

Taylor said the armed robber wanted his cell phone, which he said was in the truck. When the robber went to look for it, Taylor took off running. Taylor was worried volunteers might be scared to deliver meals on wheels if they heard about his robbery.

"I'm sorry it happened because people might think twice. Really about going out and delivering them. But I'd like to assure them it's never happened before," Hind said.

The folks who receive their meals from Taylor describe him as very kind, and are shocked by the crime. "Help folks out, and folks rob him. It's sad." said food recipient Annie Hall.

Williams said Taylor urged her to keep her doors locked as police continue to search the area for the gunman and he went on to finish his food deliveries.

Taylor described the gunman as a black man in his early 20's, wearing a hoodie-style shirt over his head. Police picked up two suspicious persons this morning in the area, but they were not charged.

If you have any information about this armed robbery, call CRIMESTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
