ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

This month's wet weather has stalled construction on Albany's Downtown Streetscape project, but officials are optimistic workers will stay on schedule.

Downtown manager Aaron Blair gave an update on the project at Wednesday's Albany Dougherty Inner City Authority meeting.

Blair says new curbs are nearly finished on Pine Avenue.

The project also includes new sidewalks and street lights.

"Right now they're working towards the new lighting so that's where they're at about right now. The rain has slowed them down the past week but I don't see any reason (why the project wouldn't be completed on time) unless we just continue to have monsoon raining, they should be complete on time," said Blair.

The project is expected to be completed by the beginning of May.
