ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

All the rain saturating the ground is causing some trees to fall. A huge oak tree fell on Martha Strickland's home in the 300 block of Williams Street in East Albany.

A sinkhole opened up at the base of the tree last night. The tree crashed onto the home about 11 this morning... causing some damage.

Harper Tree Service warns you to check trees near your home. "This is what everybody needs to be looking for. Our grounds are soaked. Look at your yards. Look at your dangerous trees you got leaning," said Ken Phillips of Harper Tree Service. Tree experts say you should look for trees that are leaning or have obvious signs of disease.

In the Albany area, southeast Dougherty County got the most rain and had the worst flooding problems. This is what folks on pleasant grove church road saw when they woke up this morning. High water surrounded this tractor and covered yards. Water reached the porch on a home at south county line road and railroad street in Acree.

The yard was under several feet of water and the house was surrounded. Public works crews posted signs this morning warning drivers to avoid Holly Drive. Traffic was diverted to keep people from getting stuck or damaging their vehicles. The road remains closed tonight.

Water covered Moultrie Road. Workers at Moree's convenience store at the Dougherty - Worth County Line put out sandbags to divert water and keep it from flowing into their building.
