Train strikes truck in Cordele


WALB News has confirmed that a freight train struck a truck that was on the tracks at 5th Street and 22nd Avenue in Cordele.

The city of Cordele sent this news release.

On Wednesday, 13 February 2013, officers of the Cordele Police Department responded to the scene of a crash involving a vehicle v. train. 

The crash occurred in the 100 block of E 22nd Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was identified as J L Williams of Cordele.

Mr Williams was taken to Crisp Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries. Mr Williams is currently listed in stable condition at Crisp Regional Hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation by the Cordele Police Department Traffic Unit and Accident Reconstruction Team.

Charges are pending against Mr Williams at this time.
