VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valentine's Day came early for special needs teenagers at Valdosta High School.

Students in the International Baccalaureate program at VHS threw a Sweetheart Social for special needs students at the high school.

The Performing Arts Center was decked out with Valentine's Day decorations. The event also included food, games, and lots of dancing.

This is the second year the IB students have thrown the party. They say it's a chance for them to bond with special needs kids.

"It's to kind of give them a chance to let loose and have fun because this is like their prom, and they don't really get to do stuff like this everyday," said IB student, Sarah Taylor.

"In the morning I was so excited, so excited every single day. It makes me feel better," said student Dee Foster.

The students say the dance has been such a success, they plan to bring it back every year.
