Information from the Georgia Lottery-

Americus, GA – A grocery store cashier has checked out a colossal prize from the Georgia Lottery.  Shaquita Mitchell of Americus has won a $3 million top prize playing the instant game Millionaire Jingle Jumbo Bucks.

Mitchell, 33, claimed her prize Monday at the Georgia Lottery's District Office in Columbus. Danfair Express #0003, located at 402 W. Forsyth St. in Americus, sold the winning ticket.

"I went in to get gas, and I purchased the ticket," Mitchell said. "I scratched it when I went back to my car. I couldn't believe it."

In disbelief, the lucky winner shared the good news with the store's clerk. "I said, ‘This can't be true,' " she recalled. "The clerk said, ‘Yes! You have won $3 million.'"

Excited over her windfall, Mitchell has yet to decide how she'll use her winnings.

Danfair Express also sold a $1 million top prize from the instant game Georgia Millions last August.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program.

More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
