ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Millions of dollars from the state for the Dougherty County School System are still frozen after system misspent state money, Monday.

Board members continue to work to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Monday, the board finalized a purchasing policy that lowers the limit on the dollar amount of contracts the superintendent can approve without permission of the board from $40,000 to $20,000.

"There was some conflict in our policy and directives, so all we did tonight was to make it across the board to be $20,000 to bring everything in sync," said School board member Darrel Ealum.

Ealum says board members and system leaders met with state officials last week about the frozen funds.

He's optimistic some of that money will be released soon.
