COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) -

Seven Colquitt County high school students have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the horticulture industry and they now have a certificate to prove it.

The Colquitt County FFA members' long hours of practice paid off as they took home their Georgia green industry junior certification in Atlanta. The students had to pass a written exam and identify 50 plants.  It's an extremely rigorous course but in some cases, having a certificate helps student's advance in potential careers.

"I really want to work at Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and this will definitely help me get there. I also want to go to college and major in horticulture," said Mikayla Crews a junior certified plant professional.  The students also got the opportunity to meet and talk with more than one hundred horticulture industry representatives.
