THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A Thomasville man remains in jail, accused of threatening a witness in an upcoming murder trial with a gun.

Police say 23-year old Oscar Jackson threatened to kill 23-year old Derek Johnson around midnight Friday outside Waffle House.

Jackson is also charged with witness tampering because Johnson is a witness in the 2010 murder of Christopher Crumby.

"Based on information we had received, that the victim was actually a witness in an upcoming murder trial that is coming up very soon. We don't know if that was the actual reason he was being threatened, but some information kind of indicated that was the case."

Investigators say they do not know the connection between Jackson and Johnson.

Jackson is charged with aggravated assault, witness tampering, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
