Three killed in house fire

RICHLAND, GA (WALB) -

Three people are dead in a house fire in Richland, Sunday night about 7:30. The GBI is trying to determine what caused the fire.

The victims all lived in an older, wooden home on Caboose Street, which had a wood burning stove.

Officials tells us that 87-year-old Willie Pearl Walton's body was found toward the back of the house, and she may have been trying to get out when the fire erupted.

Her daughter 65-year-old Barbra Ann Walton's body was found in her bed, and her son, 59 year-old Ernest Clyde Walton's body was found in his bed. The son had been confined to a wheelchair for many years.

Neighbors and other family members helped Richland firefighters in the attempt to save the family.
