ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Pageant queens spent the day visiting young patients in the hospital.

Several Miss Miracle Queens passed out valentines to NICU and pediatric patients at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in hopes of brightening their day.

It is hard to have a child in the hospital on any day but on holiday's it can be especially difficult.

"Your not there with your child all the time so you don't know what is going on, because he is so medically needy and sometimes I just don't know things that he needs or what is going to happen next," says Yolanda McKoy-Mott, NICU parent.

Yolanda McKoy-Mott's son William has been in NICU for 4 months.

Sunday, the Dougherty-Lee Forestry Pageant queens went from hospital bed to hospital bed in the NICU and the pediatric areas of the hospital, passing out Valentines for the patients.

"I came to deliver valentines to the NICU department, and I got to pass one out to a mother who had her son out, so that was really cool. A lot of kids don't get a lot of support during valentines day and their families may not come see them so that is why we did it," says Madison Barber, Miss Miracle 2013.

Something that Mott says means a lot to her son and her family.

"It brightens his, and the babies know that people are giving them things, or get extra attention, the babies really do know that," says Mott.

Mott plans to save this valentine to show her son when he is older.

"It is special because it is just a memento of the occasion, and it has his name on it which is always great, it is something that we will definitely put in his scrapbook to remember this forever," says Mott.

Last week the "Miss Miracle" queens helped with the IHOP National Pancake Day which helped benefit the Children's Miracle Network.
