Two Albany boys injured in dog attack

An Albany boy is in the hospital after a dog bit his head.

It happened Sunday afternoon around 2pm at 223 Morningside Drive.  Albany Police say a 15 year-old child was raking the yard when his two brothers offered to help, they crossed the yard and a nearby dog became aggressive and got loose.

The dog bit the 15 year-old boy in the arm, and then bit the 11 year-old boy on the head and latched on.

Officials say the 11 year-old sustained a severe head injury and was taken to Phoebe Putney hospital.

Animal control officials took the dog into custody and transported it to the humane society, where it will remain for at least 10 days.  Officials are waiting on the owner to provide paperwork for the dog.

Officials are still investigating the incident.  We'll update you as information becomes available.
