ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A new art exhibit opened in Albany, Thursday, showcasing one artist's unique medium.

Gene Threat's work is on display at the Albany area arts council until the end of the month.

The exhibit titled people, places, faith and community was all created using color pencils.

Threat says it's a rarely-used medium and most people don't recognize that the artwork was made using pencils.

"When I exhibit in a show or thing like that People mostly want to say 'what is that? Crayon?' and it's color pencil. It's actually a rare art. I don't run into too many at all," said Threat.

Most of Threat's work involves people with family and faith being common themes.
