ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man wanted to do something special for mothers and their sons, so he held a dance for them, Thursday.

Moms and boys gathered for this Valentine's dance at the Knights of Columbus lounge in Albany.

Organizer Alex Rodriguez says he notices more events for fathers and daughters than for mothers and sons.

When his daughter (who has two sons) came to him with this idea, he decided to host the event.

"She's one of the few that has asked me about doing a mother and son dance and I have people that I do weddings for and things like that and they always ask me to do a mother and son dance," said Rodriguez.

Proceeds from Thursday's event will benefit Boy Scouts at St. Teresa's.
