THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Officials say that the discovery of one dog with the canine parvo virus has caused the shelter to quarantine its dogs for two weeks.

The Thomasville shelter has dealt with this sickness in the past. Last January, the shelter dealt with a similar quarantine, and solved the problem after a few days.

Any new dogs that are brought in will be kept in a separate area from those already present.

Cats are not affected by canine parvo, so they may be brought in and adopted out.

Stephen Abel will have more information later on the story from Thomasville.
