RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A state trooper was involved in a one-vehicle accident in Rusk County Wednesday night, according to the Department of Public Safety.

It happened around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 259 and Business 259, about a mile outside Kilgore.

The trooper, whose name has not been released, was trying to make a traffic stop when he lost control of his car on the wet highway. Officials say he hit a culvert and went into a creek bed.

The trooper was not hurt, and the road was temporarily closed while a wrecker removed the DPS cruiser.
