ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Dougherty County Police officer is honored for his years of service.

Patrol Officer Reggie French is DCP's officer of the year. He's been with the county police department for 16 years and has worked in just about every division.

French says the honor came as a complete surprise. "I'm completely flattered by this award. There's nothing that feels better than to be nominated by your peers, your fellow county policemen and being recognized as what they thought to be one of the most, best officers of the year."

Detective Donald Eubanks was recognized as the department's sharpest shooter. He received the Top Gun award. And Animal Control Agent Tamara Piercey was named Support Person of the Year.
