ASHBURN, GA (WALB) -

The headline on the front page of the Wiregrass Farmer is a story about one its own - editor Ben Baker's home targeted by a shooter.

But that incident is just one of three acts of violence and vandalism aimed at Baker.

"We found that a brick had been thrown through a kitchen window and a brick had been thrown into the windshield of one of the vehicles. We also discovered that gasoline had been poured into one of the vehicles. We found matches and we believed someone had to tried to strike them and light the gasoline," said Ashburn Police Chief Joe Saxon.

Saxon says this all started the morning of January 30th while Baker, along with his wife and kids, were inside their South Main Street home.

Thirteen hours later someone came back to the home. But their next act of terror intensified.

"The victim and his family were inside the residence and were unharmed, but several rounds had been fired into the residence. We believe it was a handgun used at this time," said Saxon.

The GBI was called in and collected several shell casings.

The investigation though, didn't end there.

Early Monday morning someone targeted the Wiregrass Farmer's headquarters on Gordon Street.

"We discovered there had been damage done to the power meter of the business on South Gordon where the victim works. We believe that's related to the two other incidents, as well," said Saxon.

Right now the motive behind the attacks and those committing them are unknown.

Investigators are hopeful someone in the community knows who's responsible.

"There is a reward being offered at this time leading to a conviction and arrest. The Baker family is understandably concerned and we'd like to see this thing concluded," Saxon said.
