BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

The triggerman in the 2001 murder of a Bainbridge liquor school clerk is headed to prison.

A judge sentenced Brandon Smith to 20 years in prison Tuesday morning. He pleaded guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors say he shot Wendy Bryan - a mother of two - during a botched robbery at the Winery.

The case was cold until 2009 when the suspected getaway driver, Willie McGriff, gave up information when he was convicted in a separate murder.

Smith was serving time in Florida for a carjacking conviction when he was arrested for Bryan's murder.
