BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -
Two men are finally charged in an ongoing investigation into possible dog fighting in Bainbridge.
Bainbridge Public Safety seized 35 dogs from Dennis Johnson and Corey Sanders homes on January 19th.
They're charged with cruelty to animals and violations for having their dogs tethered and failure to have proper tags and vaccinations.
Investigators say after lengthy interviews, the suspects admitted to owning the dogs.
Investigators suspect the dogs were used in fights.
"The belief is yes. They had some of the equipment that would be used for training the dogs and some of the dogs were scarred so there is a good possibility they were involved in it," said Detective Ryan Deen.
A hearing is set for this Friday to determine the fate of the dogs.
Johnson and Sanders are facing 40 and 29 charges respectively.
