Southwest Georgia Public Health officials showed off their new mobile emergency facility to first responders Monday.
The 30 by 30 foot POD is made by EMS Innovations. It is three separate canvas buildings, including a two lane drive through unit, that can be joined together. The building is equipped with air conditioning and heating, a generator, and a trailer.
The mobile building will be available for emergency needs in all 14 Southwest Georgia counties. Public Health leaders asked first responders to tour it to let them know it's now available.
"Thinking maybe they could plan and think outside the box of how they could use it also," said Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Julie Miller. "Because we want it to be used for disaster response."
Officials say the unit could be used as a disaster response headquarters or for drive through flu shots. The $25,000 facility was paid for with a grant from the state.
