ARLINGTON, GA (WALB) -

Calhoun County business owners say the Calhoun Memorial Hospital shutdown will hurt the area's economy.

Edison Mayor Reeves Lane owns a pharmacy in Edison and says his business and others will probably take a hit after Friday's closure.

Lane says he's sad to see the hospital go after city and county officials worked hard to try to keep it open.

He says all the job losses will hurt the local economy.

"It will affect all businesses in the county. Anytime you lose a facility and they employ a lot of people, it's definitely going to hurt the community and I hope we can all survive," said Lane.

Lane says he hopes businesses won't take a severe hit from the closure.
