ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A lot of Albany families in need have nutritious food to eat this weekend thanks to an Albany church.

Joyful Tabernacle teamed up with Second Harvest of South Georgia and gave out 2500 pounds of produce, bread and prepared foods to 100 people late Friday afternoon.

The food was donated by Second Harvest Corporate partners.

The pastor says it's his congregation's way of taking care of the community.

"It helps those who are hungry if they don't have enough to feed their children. As you can see we have many people here today getting what they think they need to assist with their meals," said Joyful Tabernacle pastor Patricia Porter.

Second Harvest Officials say they plan to have food giveaways like this at least once a month this year.
