TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

A driver who was determined to get away from law enforcers didn't. He's in the Tift County Jail after a traffic stop led to a manhunt.

The suspect did everything he could to escape the cops yesterday afternoon. He even switched seats with a passenger and then ran into thick woods.

21 year old Quantavious Hall was driving on suspended license and had drugs in his pocket. Police say that's why he led 4 different law enforcement agencies on an hour long manhunt.

"There is a creek and about parallel into the woods is where he was caught in the woods," says Detective Doug Douglas, Ocilla Police Dept.

An hour long man hunt came to an end when Ocilla Police Detective Doug Douglas caught up with 21 year old Quantaveious Hall.

"The first thing he told me was he was about ready to give himself up anyway's because the woods are really thick, and it was really nasty in the woods, it is very wet in this area," says Douglas.

It all started just before 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon when a deputy stopped Hall for going 78 miles per hour in a 55 speed zone.

Before the car came to a complete stop, Hall changed places with a back seat passenger in the vehicle.

"Once at the side of the road the regular driver who had jumped in the back seat fled the scene on foot," says Sgt. B. F. Williams, Georgia State Patrol.

He ran through the wooded area north of Chula-Brookfield Road.

"He ran because he has a suspended license and possession of marijuana," says Williams.

Irwin County and Tift County Sheriff's Offices helped the Georgia State Patrol track Hall down.

"When I first arrived, me and some Tift County deputies could hear him in the wooded area, crashing through some woods in the area, and we were waiting for dogs to arrive, and I knew of an area in the woods, on down where I could a location where I could see a long ways," says Douglas.

Douglas lives near the area and offered to help. He went into the woods to find him.

"He was looking outside of the wooded area along the wood line where the deputies were lined up," says Douglas.

Douglas drew his gun and yelled at Hall to get on the ground. Georgia State Patrol arrested him on multiple charges.

Hall is charged with speeding, driving with a suspended license, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers without force.

Police say he had less than an ounce of marijuana on him. He also had a stack of money and baggies on him as well.
