ECHOLS COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

About 8:00 Thursday night, the Echols County Sheriff's deputies went to the 400 block of Hwy 376 in reference to a possible meth lab.

Sheriff Randy Courson and deputies arrived at location and discovered a room attached to a shed containing all of the components used in manufacturing methamphetamine. Investigators also discovered some finished methamphetamine.

The investigation led the Echols County Sheriff's Office to a residence located within Lowndes County. Narcotic agents from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office along with Echols County Deputies met with the occupant of the residence, George Zayas, whom was taken back to Echols County for questioning.

Zayas was taken into custody and charged with felony possession of substances with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of tools used in the commission of a crime.

Additional arrests could be forthcoming pending the outcome of the investigation.

Sheriff Courson would like to thank the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office for their assistance in the case.
