Calhoun Hospital closes within hour

ARLINGTON, GA (WALB) -

WALB News has confirmed that the Hospital in Arlington will close its doors permanently at 3:00 today.

Administrator Earl Whitely says that the crushing blow to the hospital's bottom line in the form of $1.8 Million in unreimbursed indigent care in the last year is most to blame.

He said that 70 people will lose their jobs as a result.

Whitely said that the sale of a nursing home and another facility to private entities recently saved about 150 jobs.
