APD swears in new officers

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

New police academy graduates are sworn in as Albany Police officers.

Police Chief John Proctor swore in the new class of eight officers at the Law Enforcement Center, Monday night.

We spoke to one of the new officers who says he's been looking forward to this day for a long time and can't wait to hit the streets.

"The thing I'm looking forward most to is to just help people out, get the bad off the streets when I can and just make a difference," said Officer Craig Billsby.

The new officers still have three months of training and must pass a board test before starting their solo duties on patrol.
