Shot fired near VSU

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police are investigating an incident that happened at an apartment complex two blocks from VSU. 

Officials say around 8pm Sunday a man knocked on the door of an apartment on Boone Drive and showed a gun when the victim answered.  Authorities say at that time another resident in the apartment racked a shotgun, causing the gunman to flee. 

Police say the gunman took off in an SUV and the victim fired a round in the direction of the SUV as it drove away. 

No injuries have been reported.

    Health officials are urging you to be careful around wildlife and stray animals, after a South Georgia family was attacked by a fox with rabies. This happened last Thursday on Cotton Avenue in Lake Park. A man and his dog were attacked by the fox when they went outside their house. Lowndes County animal service employees said the fox's test came back positive for Rabies. "Once someone really becomes infected with the rabies virus and it develops into the disease.
