TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Tift County residents now have a new place to get fit. The Tift County YMCA opened its new state-of-the-art facility on Carpenter Road.

It is a big improvement from their four reconditioned modular buildings that served as it's home for several years.

The facility is the result of a new partnership with Tift Regional Medical Center, which owns the building. The Tift area YMCA will use the facility to consolidate health, exercise and wellness functions.

"This enables us to be a real Y, we have all new equipment, everything is state of the art, child watch, we have two gigantic aerobic rooms, this is a ladies only workout room," says Jimmy Moore, Tift area YMCA CEO.

The entrance is temporarily at the rear of the building as work continues on the front. It is located on 1657 South Carpenter Road. They will have their grand opening in the middle of March.
