ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The folks at Albany Technical College recognized some of the brightest students and faculty members, Thursday.

Albany Tech hosted its annual banquet for nominees for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership or GOAL award.

Four of the 10 nominees will be interviewed next week by Albany Chamber of Commerce leaders and one of them will be selected to compete in the state GOAL competition.

Industrial Systems Technology teacher Robert Permenter was also given the Rick Perkins Instructor of the year Award.

"I have been nominated, so I feel that there is some precedence at least to the idea that I'm worth the time that this program is offering me and I hope to fulfill these expectations and I look forward to doing so," said GOAL nominee Michael Carroll.

"I feel very honored and I think everyone in the faculty deserves the Perkins award," said Permenter.

The Albany chamber will announce the GAOL winner on January 31st.

The state competition will be held April 24th through 26th in Atlanta.
