ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul warns young people about the consequences of their actions.

Thursday, he spoke at the Albany Civil Rights Institute's Community Night.

He brought current and former inmates to talk about their poor decisions and the consequences they're dealing with.

The Sheriff says it's important to get that message across to kids so they can make good choices.

"I really wanted to get the message across to the children, the youth and the teenagers how at this age it's important to make good choices in life. We hear it all the time, we see it all the time, but do the young people really hear it and see it all the time," said Sheriff Sproul.

Sheriff Sproul hopes the testimonies will resonate with those in attendance so they won't end up in his jail.
