ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It takes a lot of work to keep Albany looking good.

Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful says more than 73-thousand people helped do that last year.

Today... The group recognized those folks at its 24th annual volunteer celebration luncheon.

Westover Animal Hospital was named the Clean Business winner.

The Pine Lake Neighborhood Association won the beautification award.

And Carlos Phillips was named volunteer of the year for his work to protect trees in the city.

"I was born in Albany and lived here all my life and I feel like everybody needs to give something back to the community to help out," Phillips said. "If we all do a little but it would make things a lot better."

All those volunteers contributed more than 200-thousand hours to keeping the area clean and beautiful.
