SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

People in Sylvester will soon decide whether to allow stores to sell alcohol on Sundays.

This week, the city council decided to put a Sunday sales referendum on the ballot.

If voters approve the referendum, city leaders plan to start allowing stores to sell in July.

"A number of cities have looked at that and voted on it and some have voted it up and some have voted it down so the council decided they would give the citizens the option of making that decision locally," says Mayor Bill Yearta.

The Sunday sales referendum will be on the ballot in Sylvester on March 19th.
