We have breaking news to tell you about this morning. Antwan Ronell Lamons has been arrested in connection with the Monday morning shooting in the 900 block of Cherry Avenue.
Intelligence gathered by the Albany Police Department Gang Unit led them to the 400 block of Cedar Avenue.
Police arrived on the scene around 12:45 this morning when they learned that Lamons had barricaded himself in the attic of a duplex located in the 400 block of Cedar Avenue.
Several people were evacuated from a neighboring duplex as well as the duplex where Lamons was held up.
Attempts made by Negotiators to convince the Lamons to exit the attic were unsuccessful. At that point, SWAT proceeded with a tactical measure.
Canisters of gas were thrown into the attic and vents. The fumes forced Lamons out of the attic with no further incidents.
He was taken into custody by the Albany Police Department's Gang Unit with the assistance of the Albany-Dougherty SWAT at approximately 2:00 AM
