ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An alert homeowner helped officers in Lee County put three thieves behind bars.

Now investigators are working to determine if these three suspects are connected to a recent rash of burglaries or entering autos reported throughout the county.

Last night, patrol officers were able to track those suspects down near Big Oak Road.  The suspects were going through vehicles and were in the process of stealing items when they were caught. Officers were able to recover some stolen property and return it to the owner.

"That's what helps a lot too, the public seeing things and giving us a call," Lee County Sheriff Reggie Rachals said. "It may be something to it or it may not be. In this case there was something to it so those calls do count."

Twenty-two-year-old Brett Chambless, 27-year-old Anna Harrelson and a 16-year-old were arrested, all charged with theft by taking and other charges.
