Wednesday, the Albany Police Department announced the recipients of the November and December Boys and Girls Youth of the month awards.

The November winner is 11th grader Derrick Jones, 16, a student at Lee County High School.

The December winner is 7th grader Ayanna Phelps, 13, a student at Merry Acres Middle School in Albany.

The awards are sponsored by the Albany Police Department's Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association, the Albany Chapter #65 of the National Association of Women in Construction and Advertising by Lisa.

The plaques are presented to youth who attend the Boys and Girls Club, display good behavior, leadership skills and excel academically.

The awards were presented by the Alumni Association Tuesday evening at the Boys and Girls Club on Jefferson Street.
