Hamilton Co., FL -

Investigators believe a Lowndes County woman, whose body was found on the side of a road in Hamilton County, Florida yesterday, was shot to death by her father. Today, he was also found dead in Marion County, Florida. Investigators believe he killed himself after dumping his daughter's body.

61-year-old Pamela Provenzano's body was found along SW 44th Street near Jasper, Florida early yesterday morning. Hamilton County Sheriff Harrell Reid believes her father, 79-year-old Daniel Ovaert, shot her to death.

"It is sad news and we don't have a lot of homicides down here, maybe one or two a year is max; it's not something we face daily, weekly, or even monthly," said Sheriff Reid.

But the father and daughter weren't from the area. Lowndes County investigators say Provenzano was in Valdosta visiting her father, who owns Valdosta Transmissions on Ashley Street. Investigators say they have not determined a motive for the murder, and say the shooter made no attempt to conceal the victim's body.

Investigators say her body was found just a hundred feet down 44th Street lying in the shoulder, and her purse was found right next to her.

"They could have drug her body into the woods, but from the evidence at the scene it just looked like she was a passenger in a vehicle, the passenger's door was open and she was pulled out and just placed on the edge of the dirt road there," said Reid.

Around 10:30 this morning deputies in Marion County Florida found Ovaert dead inside his Lincoln Continental at a gas station. Marion County officials say Ovaert died from a gunshot wound and are investigating it as a suicide.

Family members of the father and daughter did not want to talk to us today. Investigators in Georgia and Florida say the investigation continues.
