ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Hundreds of people from all over South Georgia gathered at the Albany Civic Center, Monday, to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior.
The 2013 King Day committee hosted the event.
The theme was "Keeping the Dream Alive."
The keynote speaker, Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Herbert Phipps, spoke about working to keep Dr. King's vision alive and fulfilling the Dream.
"Those who are indifferent dishonor his memory because a dream is worth nothing unless you get up and put it in to reality. Transform it into reality. Dreams without a plan amount to nothing," said Phipps.
Judge Phipps is a native of Baker County and says every person should make a conscious effort everyday to help bring equality for all Americans.
