ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Many South Georgians watched President Obama's historic inauguration, Monday.
Among them, a history making South Georgia politician.
Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard made history a year ago when she was sworn in as the city's first female mayor.
She says trailblazers such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and President Obama made it possible for her to be in office now.
"I'm glad to see so many people out and celebrating and understanding that we don't forget what happened and the people that paved the way for us, people who paved the way for me to be where I'm at today," said Mayor Hubbard.
Mayor Hubbard defeated BJ Fletcher in Albany's mayoral election in 2011.
