Officials in Bainbridge have uncovered what they believe is a dog fighting ring.
Sergeant David Cutchin, with Bainbridge Public Safety, was patrolling on Columbia Street Saturday, when he noticed a large number of dogs located behind a home on the 700 block. Officials say Cutchin noticed some of the animals were bleeding and many were malnourished.
He also discovered a house nearby on Love Street, which had a large number of dogs. Officials say both residences showed signs of dog fighting.
Authorities retrieved more than 40 dogs from the two houses.
A vet is currently evaluating each dog's condition.
BPS's Criminal Investigation Division is investigating and determining charges. Arrests are pending.
