COLQUITT COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A program that helps kids improve their reading skills is getting help from one south Georgia hospital.

Colquitt Regional Medical Center's Speech Pathology Department is teaming up with Cox Elementary School and Stringfellow Elementary School to enhance their use of the educational program "Fast ForWord".

The program helps students who are struggling with reading skills through interactive computer games.

Both schools started using the program a couple years and say they've seen tremendous progress.

"It's truly a revolutionary product and what we are seeing on average is anywhere between 1 to 2 of gain in reading level in as little as 8 to 12 weeks," says Speech of Pathology Director Renee Crosby.

The Fast ForWord program is also available for home-schooled students at the speech pathology center.
