ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Boys & Girls Clubs lay out their goals for the new year.

The Board of Directors, workers and volunteers attended the group's annual stakeholder's meeting, Thursday night.

They discussed enhancing their education enrichment project and fighting childhood obesity.

Leaders say the club is a vital part to this community.

"It's a lot of kids that, if the boys and girls club was not open in the afternoon from 2:30 to 9 o'clock in the evening, it may be a lot of kids that wouldn't have anywhere to go," said Bob Hutchinson.

Youth of the Year from years past were also recognized tonight as a symbol of the club's success.
