VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta State University will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Thursday night.

VSU's Office of Social Equity will hold a celebration at 7 p.m. in the University Center Magnolia Room.

It will include poetry readings, dancing, and a keynote speech by South Carolina Representative, Bakari Sellers.

He's the son of civil rights leader Cleveland Sellers.

"There are so many people right here in this community that carry on the work of Dr. King. It's a wonderful way for everyone to get together and collaborate, commiserate, and re-charge," said Dr. Maggie Viverette, Dir. of Office of Social Equity.

There will also be an MLK march and candlelight vigil on campus next Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
