ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The American Red Cross needs your help to help disaster victims here at home.

In 2012, the 25-County Flint River Chapter served 830 people after they were displaced by disasters, mainly house fires.

The chapter spent more than $125,000 in disaster relief.

Officials say they can't do that work without volunteers and they need more.

"It gives them a chance to give back and when you're volunteering that's what you really want to do is get some feeling out of it and they're able to do that by getting out and helping when people have to worse times. Volunteers are vital and we couldn't do this operation without them," said Nigel Poole with the Flint River Chapter.

The Red Cross always needs monetary donations as well.

You can donate in person at your local Red Cross or click here to donate online.
